VETERINARYHEALTH CALENDER FOR THE YEAR 2023-24

Livestock plays an important role in daily life of rural poor and protection of livestock health is the primary duty of every Veterinarian.

Ø In Telangana state, in order to minimize them orbidity and mortality of livestock and also to enhance the performance, emphasis is given to preventive health care measures rather than curative measures. Hence, various preventive health care programmes are drawn up well in advance for contagious and infectious diseases which are encountered for control and containment of diseases.

Ø Vaccination and Deworming calendar is prepared well in advance every year to create a disease free zone in the state. According to the schedule, vaccinations are conducted in the state.

The preventive health calendar for livestock and poultry vaccinations and Deworming for creating disease free zone for the year 2024-25 for the economically important diseases is prepared and enclosed herewith.


The following disease control strategy will be adopted in the state for the year 2024-25:

1)  Vaccinations in Bovines (HS& BQ): The following categories of villages and their susceptible population as per 2019 census.

a)   Outbreak villages – recording Outbreak in past 5years.

b)   Villages surrounding outbreak village’s up to 3 Km radius.

c)    Villages along interstate border, shandies &abattoirs, along the livestock movement routes, villages on banks of rivers, streams, lakes and water bodies villages surrounding Forests, Wild life sanctuaries, National parks etc. and villages around 10 Km radius of Government Livestock farms and FSBS farms (Karimnagar).

2)  Foot & Mouth Disease Vaccination (NADCP_FMD):Mass vaccination of all the eligible bovines, Sheep, Goat & pigs will betaken up twice in the year at 6 monthly interval under the National Animal Disease Control Programme (NADCP_FMD).

3)  Brucella Vaccination(NADCP_ Brucellosis) Programme: Vaccination of female calves between4-8 months of age will be taken up twice in the year at 6 monthly interval under the National Animal Disease Control Programme to cover all the eligible 4-8 m age female calve population.

4) LSD Vaccinations:- as per GOI instructions LSD vaccinations has to be taken up in the entire white cattle in the state to avoid the incidence of LSD in the state.

5) Vaccinations in Small ruminants (ET, PPR, Bluetongue, Sheep Pox & Goat pox): For effective control and eradication of the sheep and Goat diseases,

Ø PPR vaccinations will be taken up in 100% Sheep & Goat Population under PPR_EP programme.

Ø Sheeppox and Blue tongue vaccinations will be taken in 66% Sheep Population.

Ø Goatpox vaccinations will be taken in 33% Goat Population i.e., newborn (newly added).

Ø Enterotoxaemia, vaccinations will be taken up in susceptible population in the endemic & target villages.  

  6) CSF vaccinations: under Livestock Health & Disease Control Programme (LHDC), sub-component Classical Swine Fever Control Programme (CSF-CP), CSF    vaccinations has to be taken up in 100% pig     population in   the state.
